7/8 event
Next Tuesday we will do the “last man standing event”. Start at 7:30 pm. We will probably use all of the “classics” games (1 and 2 token games). See previous announcement for more details.

2-man team results
Congrats to Tommy and Dan S. for winning the event! Below are the full results.
1. Tommy & Dan S.
2. Jason & Ron
3. Keith & Terry
4. Kevin & Craig
5. Jerry & Dan I.
5. Bob & Tom

7/1 (team event pt. 2), 7/8 event and 6/24 Tommy results

7/1 (team event pt. 2)
Tomorrow we will continue the 2-man team event we started started on 6/10. Start at 7:30 p.m. 2-man teams still in the event are: Dan S. & Tommy, Jason & Ron, Kevin & Craig, Keith & Terry. Feel free to stop by even if you are not still in the team event.

7/8 event – “Last man standing”
The following week we will do a last man standing tournament. Basically, someone will play a single player game on one machine to establish the low score for that machine. The next person will play the same machine. All the next person needs to do is beat that score. If they don’t, then their score establishes the new low score on that machine. Those that beat the machine’s established low score then move on to the next machine until we have a last man standing on the last machine. If there are 10 people competing in the event, then we play 9 machines. Not sure which specific machines we will use since I don’t know the number of people competing, but it will be any of the “classics” machines (any of the 1 or 2 token machines).

6/24 event, 7/1 event, 6/22 Indiana tournament

6/24 event
For this event we will try the “Tommy” style, which is playing the machine without being able to see the flippers (covered by cardboard) and possibly the sound turned off. I’ll figure out the details this weekend. Start at 7:30 p.m. As allways, let me know if you have an event idea and want to run it yourself.

7/1 event
The following week we will pick up where we left off for the team event we started on 6/10. Start at 7:30 p.m. 2-man teams still in the event are: Dan S. & Tommy, Jason & Ron, Kevin & Craig, Keith & Terry. Feel free to stop by even if you are not still in the team event.

It looks like the website for the Bartons Pizza Pinball Blast in Hammond, IN was updated to the following:

6/17 MSA Monthly
Reminder that this Tuesday is the MSA monthly tournament, so no league event.

6/24 league event
I apologize that last Tuesday’s team event ran long and that we didn’t finish. I will get with the remaining team participants to see what week works best to finish. It might be 6/24, it might be another date. I will let everyone know.

6/3 results
Thanks to all that participated in the one-hand tournament. Congrats to Phil and Tommy for finishing 1st and 2nd! The full results can be found here:

6/10 event
Next Tuesday’s event at 7:30 PM will be 2-man teams. We will use the rankings of last semester’s league (pre-final rankings) to pair the teams to make them as even as possible. No money, no WPPR points, just fun. More specifics wil be given Tuesday.

Reminder Summer League Tuesday 6/3 at 7:30 PM

Reminder that summer league starts tomorrow at 7:30 PM. For tomorrow we are going to do a one-handed tournament. No entry fee (just coin-drop) and no WPPR, IFPA points. We will determine the games list and specific tournament format tomorrow depending on how many people show up. We would do head-to-head, double elimination, random game if their are a lot of people (around 16 or more). Or, we might do 4-player groups PAPA style scoring (4,2,1,0) if there aren’t a lot of people (around 10 or less).

5/20 MSA Monthly, 6/22 Hammond Tournament, 6/2 Summer League

5/20 MSA Monthly
Just a reminder that next Tuesday is the MSA monthly tournament for May:

6/22 Hammond Tournament
The following links provide information on an IFPA tournament in June in Hammond, IN. Kevin Seliger will be running the tournament. Kevin is a notable pinball operator who also runs the Northwest Indiana league at Tyler’s Tender in Schererville. He ran an excellent tournament last year, so this tournament should be a good time too.

Since this tournament is within Indiana it will also count towards qualifying for the IFPA Indiana State Championship.

6/2 Summer League
Sorry I haven’t done anything for summer league yet. Next Tuesday is MSA monthly and the following Tuesday is after Memorial Day, so we will start summer league on Tuesday 6/2. Please see the previous post about the different event ideas. Volunteers to run the different events would be appreciated.

Summer League 2014

(Updated 5/1 with some more event ideas. Also, no volunteers yet to run event)
It’s about time to get summer league started up again. Like last year, summer league is not as formal, no IFPA points, etc. This year, though, we will do something different each week. In other words, a different event or format each week. Also, I was hoping that we could get everyone to volunteer to run the different events. Some of the ideas for the different events include:

1. Crew battle (multi-person team, each team chooses opponent for each 2-person match)
2. 2-man team tournament (like Chicago Expobrawl)
3. Tommy (sound off, flippers covered so you can’t see them)
4. Pingolf
5. Game themed brackolope tournament (e.g. all EM’s or all Sterns)
6. Price is Right (closest to target score without going over)
7. Amazing Race (Everyone plays same machine, lowest score is eliminated)
8. One handed (one hand in pocket at all times)
9. Doubles (one hand left flipper one player, one hand right flipper other player)

Please respond to this post if interested in running a summer event, either one of these listed or an idea you have. Or you can email me at tsveng@yahoo.com. You can run your event any way you want, you can even have it occur over multiple days. The only rules are:

1. minimize Dan’s efforts
2. occur on Tuesdays from 7-11pm but not on a 3rd Tuesday
3. coin-drop
4. keep it fun, simple, no IFPA points.
