Main Street Mayhem is a SUCCESS!

First off thank you so much to Dan St. John for allowing us to have this event at Main Street Amusements! Secondly thank you to everyone who traveled to play in the tournament, we had the states of Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Kentucky, Ohio, and Colorado represented by the different players. Some of you made long trips to come and play, without you guys and gals we wouldn’t have had the tournament so I can’t thank you enough. In addition the conduct of the players throughout the tournament; keeping your cool in stressful situations, handling game issues with patience and courtesy, and general respect towards one another as competitors made it one of the best tournaments I have been a part of. A big thank you to Double Danger Pinball, they took care of our logo design, sticker, shirt, and award printing as well. I can’t tell you the number of compliments I heard from participants about how much they liked all the stuff. Be sure to check out their website and order some pinball swag as they are top notch guys all around. If anyone is interested in ordering a Main Street Mayhem shirt, we still have a few XL & 2XL left that can be purchased directly from me.

As many of you were made aware last week Dan decided to put some cause behind our tournament and he would be donating all coin drop from the entire weekend to Natalie’s Second Chance, a no kill animal shelter in Lafayette, and in addition to that he would be matching the coin drop to double the donation…..then on Sunday he even one upped that saying he would not only match the coin drop, but then round-up to the next thousand dollar amount! As of roughly 7 PM last night that meant Dan and Main Street Amusements was going to be donating at least $3000 to Natalie’s!!!! That makes me incredibly happy that we were able to take a hobby that we all have a passion for, and use it to contribute to a great cause. Again, Dan, thank you for your kindness and charitable acts with the tournament and for providing us with such an awesome location to play some pinball.

Overall the tournament ran very smooth and from what I could tell everyone seemed to have a very good time playing. We hope to make this an annual event in the future, so if you had fun let some friends know about it, and help us to build the reputation of the tournament.

The winner was no surprise as Trent Augenstein, #12 ranked IFPA player in the world, came away with the title in A division, but it wasn’t without a challenge. Lafayette’s very own Craig Farner, who had to sneak into A division with a late night playoff game on Saturday just to get the 16th seed, took Trent all the way to the  very last game of the finals before falling just short of the upset. Myself, Tommy Skinner, took third, and Darren Kamnitzer rounded out the top 4 for A Division. In B division Stuart Nyswonger came away with the clean victory and left behind three players in a tie for second place; Sam Bean, Nick Beach, and Mark Uncapher. The three players came to an agreement on splitting the prize money for 2nd-4th place in B, but did play a one game playoff to determine finishing positions. Mark Uncapher finished runner-up, 3rd went to Sam Bean, and 4th went to Nick Beach. img_7892

All results from the tournament have been submitted to the IFPA and should be available for your viewing pleasure sometime this week.

Standings and Results from Day 1 of Qualifying can be viewed here thanks to MatchPlay Events! Click on a player’s name to see their round by round and game by game results.

Results for the finals were all done on a live google sheets spreadsheet and it is available here.

Again, thank you to everyone who helped contribute to making this event such a success and I truly hope you all had a great time.

Main Street Mayhem Tournament Banks!

Image

Hey everyone,

I posted these to the Facebook event page and Pinside yesterday but here you go! I made one slight change as I had forgot to include Space Shuttle, that has replaced Spanish Eyes being duplicated in two separate banks which I am sure is a relief to many of you!

Hope to see many of you at league tonight and at the tournament this weekend!

August Selfie League Final Results!

We continued our streak of having exactly 8 players show up for the finals split between A & B divisions.

A division this month was Keith, Tommy, Matt and Tom.

B division this month was Craig, Dan St. John, Ryan, and Dan Isaacson with Ryan looking for his 3rd straight win in the B bracket.

With Craig driving the bus for B division he drove the group to Captain Fantastic, Funhouse, and Tri-Zone. Dan Isaacson came away with the win on Captain Fantastic, followed by Dan St. John, then Craig in 3rd and Ryan in 4th. On Funhouse Dan St. John stayed away from the door and found himself in 1st place, followed by Ryan in 2nd, Dan I. in 3rd and Craig in 4th. Heading into the last game, Tri-Zone, Craig had 1 point, Dan I. 4 points, Ryan 2 points, and Dan St. John 5 points. Craig would end up coming out on top on Tri-Zone to finish with 4 points good enough for 3rd place on the night. Dan I. would sneak into 2nd finishing with 6 points good enough for a tie for first with Dan St. John who would finish 3rd on Tri-Zone. In a near miss Ryan tilted away a large bonus on ball three that actually would have left him tied with Dan St. John for first but instead his B division streak came to an end and he finished the evening in 4th on Tri-Zone and overall.

The tiebreaker game was a battle of the Dans! The taller, wiser, and better Dan as he described himself came out victories as Dan St. John was the winner making him a back to back champion between the A & B divisions the last two months.

Keith had an amazing month of qualifying making him the A division bus driver. He stopped that yellow bastard on Tri-Zone, Spider-Man, and Captain Fantastic. Unfortunately the stops didn’t go great for Keith as he would take one 1st place finish on Spider-Man, and a couple of 4th place finishes on the other two games. Tom would finish 3rd on Tri-Zone, Spider-Man, and Captain Fantastic forcing him and Keith into a tie for 3rd overall on the night. They battled it out on Funhouse and Tom victorious. Matt would take a quick lead winning Tri-Zone, while Tommy managed to squeak out a second place finish with a good ball three comeback attempt. On Spider-Man the Green Goblin got the best of Matt finishing him in last place while Sandman buried Tommy to put him in 2nd place. Heading into Captain Fantastic it was still anyone’s night with all players still having a shot at victory. Matt and Tommy both had great starts on ball one breaking 40k and 60k respectively. A house ball on ball 2 seemingly damned the evening for Matt, but not before he made a massive comeback on ball 3 tallying up 96k+ points. Tommy started ball 3 with 91k and crossed his fingers in hopes a dreaded house ball wouldn’t crush his evening. In the end he managed to take down a few drops and add a few pop bumpers to come away with the clean victory on the night finishing with 110k on the game.

Thanks for another awesome month of Selfie League, don’t forget you can play your September Selfie League games anytime MSA is open. The games for September are Fire, Eight Ball Deluxe, South Park, Game of Thrones Premium, and Transformers LE! FullSizeRender

5th Annual Fountain Square Pinball Classic

pinball-classic-16-website-banner-1200x350.jpg

Hey Guys, I haven’t attended this event in the past, but I know a lot of you have and I have heard nothing but positive things. It is the 5th year for the tournament and they have qualifying times scheduled for 10 AM and 1 PM, to be followed by the finals. You have to purchase your ticket ahead of time and it is limited (I believe 50 players) with the top 24 making the finals. Cost is $53 approximately, but should be well worth it. I’ve also heard the hosting location La Margarita has some great food and drinks. Anyway I got officially signed up last night, and I encourage many of you to do the same.
