Spring is in the Air!

Spring Season Poster 2018

Spring Pinball League that is! Who knows if we will ever see flowers this year with the way the weather has been, but you can still count on the blossoming of multiballs and jackpots down at Main Street Amusements. Yes, it is true that we just wrapped up our Winter League, but starting right back up allows us to finish our season before Memorial Day and take a nice long summer break. We even have a freshly updated logo for the Spring Season.

Games for week 1 of Spring League are Attack from Mars, Black Knight, Game of Thrones, Spanish Eyes, and Total Nuclear Annihilation.

LPL Spring 2018 Week 1 Games

I know it is a short turn around but if anyone has ideas for improvements for the season please let me know. Otherwise, we will run things just like winter league. An eight week season, two lowest weeks dropped, top half in A division, bottom half in B division. As always feel free to invite friends to come down and try it out.

Congrats to Dan St. John LPL Winter 2018 Champion!

Dan outlasted everyone else in A Division last night as a dominant performance on Tri-Zone and a ball 5 bonus countdown led him to victory over Tommy in the finals. In B Division Michale staved off Dan Isaacson and his own wife to claim victory. Thank you to everyone for playing in another season of the Lafayette Pinball League, sorry the crazy Indiana weather impacted attendance a bit last night. Full results from the division finals are below.

Path of Play Charity Tournament!

Path of Play Logo

As many of you know I spent some time working in at Cornerstone Autism Center a few years ago as an ABA Therapist. The experience made a large impact on my life and it remains something very important to me. An opportunity to help out children with Autism has presented itself through the Path of Play charity. The main idea behind the organization is simple, use games to help those on the spectrum socialize. Social skills are one of the biggest struggles for those on the spectrum, and Path of Play is organizing events that bring these individuals together to literally play games and socialize. They are also fundraising to help provide games for Autism centers and donating to individual families to help with the expense of therapy for their children.

In an attempt to help I have organized a pinball tournament to raise money for the organization. The event will take place April 29th at North End Pub in Lafayette, Indiana. The event will encompass three different tournaments all taking place simultaneously. You can play in any or all of the events that is totally up to you. If you would like to make a donation before the event, or in lieu of attending the event you may do so here.

There will be a launch party style tournament for Total Nuclear Annihilation. $10 entry fee + coin drop with $5 going to Path of Play, and $5 going to the prize pool.  Unlimited attempts. Top 8 make the finals.

There will be a Main Charity Tournament featuring modern games. $10 entry fee + coin drop with $5 going to Path of Play, and $5 going to the prize pool. Unlimited attempts, 7 games featured, best 4 games count towards final standings. Top 8 make the finals, if more than 24 players participate top 12 will make the finals.

Lastly, there will be a Classics Tournament. $10 entry fee with games on free play, $5 going to Path of Play, and $5 going to the prize pool. Top 4 make the finals. Limited qualifying of 15 attempts. 4 machines used in the tournament, best 3  games count towards final standings.

All coin drop from the tournament will also be donated to Path of Play that day.

Tournaments will all start at 11 AM with different ending times so that players who choose to play in all three tournaments can fully participate in finals of each if they qualify. North End Pub has food and drinks available as well and is attached to Market Square Lanes Bowling Alley if you want to bring along friends and family who don’t care to play pinball but may enjoy some bowling. Hope to see a lot of you there! Any questions please let me know.

REMINDER Winter League Finals Tomorrow @ 7:30!

Yep, I know, we are a full week into Spring at this point but good old Mother Nature was nice enough to dump a few inches of snow on us as a reminder that we have Winter League Finals tomorrow night at Main Street Amusements! Same start time as normal 7:30 PM. We have 12 players who qualified to participate in finals by playing in at least half of the weeks of the season. The top 6 players are in the A division, the next 6 are in the B division.

Same format as previous seasons each matchup will be a best of 3 with higher seed having the choice of game or position for game 1, lower seed for game 2, and back to higher seed for game 3. Double elimination for both A & B in the winners and losers brackets. Brackets are posted below based on all participants showing up. There is a $10 entry fee for each division with payouts for the top 2 of each division. $40 to 1st place and $20 to 2nd place.

If a player from A division doesn’t show up, the highest seed in B division has the option to move up to the A bracket. We do have tiebreakers that must be played out before finals start Matt vs. Dan & Danielle vs. Michael. See everyone tomorrow night!

And That’s a Wrap!

Our Winter Season is in the books, and what a nailbiter it was! The top 4 finished the season separated by a mere 2 points. As explained at the beginning of the season our finals will now be split between an A & B Division and based on the number of players we had participate in at least 3 weeks this season that means 6 players in each division. The full week 8 results and final season standings are below. Our finals tournaments will be held on Tuesday, April 3rd. In both A & B divisions we have a tie for 2nd place, in A division Dan and Matt, and in B division Danielle and Michael, will each have a one-game playoff to determine who gets the two seed and who gets the three seed for the tournament. Reminder there is a $10 entry fee for the finals tournament. A trophy will be awarded for the A & B Champions. Prize money is split between the top two finishers in each division. The tournament will remain a best of 3 format and double elimination as we have run in previous years with the high seed getting the game choice to start.

Thanks again to everyone who played this season so far, I hope you have enjoyed it. If there are any suggestions for changes or future improvements please feel free to let me know.   lpl winter 2018 week 8 results
