LPL Summer Season Starts June 27th!

Summer, Summer, Summer Time! Oh, you thought just because we finished our Spring Season last night that we wouldn’t be organized and ready to go with some Summer Season fun so soon? Well you are WRONG! Our Summer Season will start-up on June 27th and stick to our typical Tuesday nights at 7:30PM down at Main Street Amusements!

Thinking about a mild change to the format where instead of playing the same games each week, each group could choose their own games each night, with each player picking one game per week in the group. Anyway looking forward to seeing everyone down there again. We do have an extra week off as we won’t be playing the week of the 4th of July. As always feel free to tell friends, family, neighbors, etc…. to come down and join us. I made up a few flyers as well, feel free to share them with anyone you would like.

Reminder LEAGUE FINALS TOMORROW NIGHT!

Just a quick reminder to everyone that we have league finals tomorrow night. There is a $10 entry fee for the tournament, and as usual all money is awarded back out in prizes for the top two finishers, this time it will be in both A & B division. All entry fee money stays with their division as well, equal splits. If we end up with an odd number of players the extra player will be in B division. We will use the point total from regular season for seeding.

Each match is a best of three series, higher seed has choice of game or position for game one, then lower seed has choice for game two, and if there is a game three choice goes back to higher seed. The tournament is double elimination so an early loss does not stop you from coming all the way back to claim victory.

Trophies will also be made up for the champion of each division. If anyone has questions get ahold of me. We will start right at 7:30, and I recommend getting there a few minutes early so we can get bracket organized and start play right away as finals night can sometimes run a bit longer with the different format. Hope to see all of you there tomorrow night!

Congrats to Matt! The May Monthly Tournament Champion

Matt Peace successfully outlasted the field of nine players including our friend from Germany, Torsten, to claim the May Championship!

Torsten played in a monthly tournament with us last year while visiting the United States on business, it was his first competitive pinball event. He went on to place 8th out of 208 players at the German Pinball Open Classics Division, and then again this year he managed to place 13th out of 174 at the same event. Needless to say from a person having never played he has quickly moved up in the rankings to 848th in the world in just one year of competition. It was great to have him back for another visit, and Torsten finished in 5th at our event.

In the final match of the evening Matt defeated Bob Skinner, who made his 2017 debut in the Lafayette Pinball scene, and finished his night with only 1-strike. He squeaked by Tommy on Captain Fantastic by 160 points to hand him his second strike, before stomping him into the ground on Black Knight by tallying up nearly 3 million points knocking Tommy out in a third place finish. Ron would come in 4th on the evening to round out the top 4.

Due to some slight miscommunication on my part, I forgot to go pick up the donated prizes from our official sponsor the Lafayette Brewing Company (sorry everyone, my fault), but we have rectified everything and we will be right back on schedule for next month’s tournament which takes place on June 20th at 8PM. I’ve made up a few flyers that you can feel free to share with friends for the event and/or via social media.

Also don’t forget our Spring Season concludes with our Finals event next Tuesday, May 23rd, with our double elimination format tournament. See you all there at 7PM!

Summer Season 2017 Schedule Released

summer time gif

Just looking to get a bit ahead of the game here as I have some spare time at work today. I went ahead and got us all scheduled out and submitted to the IFPA for our Summer Season. We will look to start June 27th and end on September 12th. We will take off the week of the 4th of July. This means that after finals on May 23rd we will take a month off from league play. During that time we will still have Selfie League running, as well as our June Monthly tournament on the 20th. All the information is available on our calendar page, and is listed below as well. Let me know if anyone has any questions.

Finals Night Remains 5/23/2017 as Originally Scheduled!

Alright everyone after having the survey up for a few days it seems there is no significant difference in attendance on which date finals is held for our Spring Season. As a result I’ve decided we will just play our finals tournament on 5/23/2017 as originally scheduled. I know this date didn’t work for everyone, but none of our proposed dates did so it seems best to stick with the scheduled date that we have had for three months at this point.

Finals night please arrive as close to 7PM as possible so we are sure to start right on time as finals can run a little longer than your average league night. We will split into two brackets A & B (I think this may also speed the tournament up a bit). You will be seeded in your bracket based on your points accumulated over the 8 weeks of season. You will then be paired up in a best of 3, head to head match. Higher seed gets choice on of game or position first, then lower seed for game two, and back to higher seed if there is need for a game three. It will be a double elimination bracket. That means even if you lost in the first round you could come all the way back through to the finals and still win it all. If we have an odd number of players in each bracket the highest seed(s) will get the bye. There will be trophies for the winner of each division and a cash payout for the top two finishers in each division as well. There is a $10 entry fee, and all money is paid back out to those top finishers.

Again apologies to anyone who can’t attend finals evening, but there is always next season…..speaking of which I’m going to get on scheduling that right now.

See you all next Tuesday for our monthly tournament and then see most of you the following week for finals.

Lastly it was brought to my attention that finals date of 5/23/2017 may not work for several league members. As a result and in an attempt to accommodate as many members as possible I have created a short survey. Please complete by FRIDAY this week (basically the next 48 hours). Select all dates on the survey that you could attend. We will hold finals on the night that allows the greatest number of participants. We will also split finals into A & B divisions, top half from season standings in A and lower half in B. The Survey is below, and will also be emailed and Facebooked out. If you see or talk to other members please remind them to also complete it as I’d like to make the best decision possible.

Reminder that next week will be our 3-Strikes monthly tournament brought to you by Lafayette Brewing Company. Tournament starts promptly at 8PM and there is a $5 entry fee, with all money paid back out to the top 4 finishers. Bring anyone down as we always love for some new people to participate. Don’t forget to get a meal in before or after the tournament, and try some of their fresh brewed root beer or cream soda.
