Indiana IFPA State Championships

This past Saturday the Indiana IFPA State Championships were hosted at Centerpoint Brewing in Indianapolis. The location there is managed by Bud Sommerville and provides the best place to grab a pint and play some pins in the state’s capital. Bud did an amazing job of having the games in tournament condition and bringing in several others so that we had emergency backups and still room for the general public to play as well. We can’t thank the location and operator enough for all their help in making this event run smoothly.

The bracket featured 10 Hoosiers and 6 out of state competitors this year. By the semi-finals, no Hoosiers remained as we have to wait another year to reclaim our state’s title. In the end, a hard-fought series came down to ball 3 of game 7 on Game of Thrones between former Indiana Champion Brad Smith, and last year’s Minnesota Champion Fred Richardson. Fred was able to overcome Brad’s comeback attempt to clinch his second state title in a row. The winner’s bracket is shown below, and the full bracket is available in the spreadsheet below that. Congrats to Fred, and thank you to everyone who showed up and participated in the tournament!

Reminder Tomorrow is League Night!

Get down to Main Street Amusements and enjoy some competitive pinball tomorrow night at 7:30. The games for week 2 are below. I recommend getting there early and staying late to check out the newest addition to MSA, Total Nuclear Annihilation from Spooky pinball. For those of you unfamiliar with the game it is brand new, but it harkens back to the days of old with an 80’s inspired layout, lock stealing, and simple rules….at the same time it is in your face with 100% color changing RGB LEDs and an incredible sound system and custom music to match! The game was specifically designed to be played with friends so you can steal the multiball from each other and talk trash. Travel from the future to the past to destroy nuclear reactors to save the future….yep I think that sums it up. We will add it to league soon, but for this week just enjoy it!

Congrats to Mike Burgess!

Mike starts out 2018 with a big victory in the new format monthly tournament. It seemed that people enjoyed the new way to play, and we will stick with it for another month. Everyone got to play the whole time, and everyone had a shot at winning money all the way until the end. Thanks to all who came out and participated.

A reminder that next week is week 2 of our Winter League, anyone can come and play so feel free to bring some friends. Games for week 2 are below. lpl winter 2018 week 2 games

Then most importantly after a new State Champion is crowned on Saturday in Indianapolis come back to Lafayette for the 6th Anniversary Party at Main Street Amusements! The only public location in the country that will have two Total Nuclear Annihilation machines to play, on top of all the other amazing games at MSA!

Week 1 Results! Next Week is Monthly Tournament!

Thank you to everyone who came out and played last night! It was great to see everyone back, and happy to have Joe rejoin us for this season. Hope everyone really enjoyed getting to play the super rare Big Bang Bar as part of our league night, I don’t think there are too many places around the country where people can say that. Below are the standings after week 1.

Games for week 2, 1/23/2018, are Batman ’66, Black Knight, Captain Fantastic, Creature from the Black Lagoon, and F14. That gives you two weeks to get in some practice on these games since next week is our monthly tournament!

Next Tuesday, 1/16/2018, is our Monthly Tournament! Remember the start time has now moved up to 7:30 PM and it will remain there all year so it now matches our league start time. The format is also new, 1 hour of qualifying, playing against one person on a classic machine the whole time, new players and machines each round, as many as we can squeeze into the hour, and then 1 round of 3 games for finals against a group of 4. Each group will have prize money. As always our entry fee will remain $5. I hope you will all come out and give this new format a shot, I really think it should be fun and more inclusive than the 3-strikes format we have previously used.

See you all next week!

PINBALL SEASON IS BACK!
